In 1967 the congregation purchased new property in Southwest Rochester, the Maas Farm. A careful planning process was set in motion, led by Dr. Donald Layton. Rev. Vernon Curry was the minister of the church from 1959 until 1972, and greatly engaged in the process. The 1961 merger of the Unitarian and Universalist faiths became a significant factor in planning for the church.

A comprehensive search for an architect was conducted and in April of 1965, Victor Christ-Janer of Connecticut was selected. On February 16, 1968 the inaugural church service was held in the unfinished sanctuary, which has now served for 55 years.
A major renovation was completed in 2000, including a new entry and many enhancements to accessibility in the building. In 2023 the congregation voted to create a new church to meet the needs of our growing
